2014 MLB SPRING TRAINING WEEK 5

2014 MLB SPRING TRAINING WEEK 5

9 Mar
Game 10
Indians vs Brewers

After a two day break, I was back at the ball park. As I walked to the Indians practice, not one but two balls passed under the fence right in front of me. I saw that as good things to happen the rest of the day. as I got closer to the field I saw Terry Francona signing autographs. He had his own pen (black sharpie) and walking down the fence signing for fans. I jumped in and got him on his 2005 Topps. Lonnie Chisenhall was next to exit the field and he sign his 2012 Topps Heritage. I was able to add two more autographs to my 2013 AL Wild Card photo Mike Aviles and when I walked to the minor league field batting practice I got Carlos Santana. At the game Asdrubal Cabrera was right in front of me, but he signed for the kids around me, better luck next time. Three down two to go to complete the photo, I'll keep working on it and hopeful by the end of spring it will be done. When at the game, I did add two more autographs to today's total, I got Charles Nagy 1993 Topps and after his pre-game broadcast Rich Manning 1987 Topps. After the game I got Carlos Moncrief to sign a 5x7 photo.

There was a lot of Indians signing at the game too. I either already got them or did not have anything for them to sign. I'm no where as prepared as I thought I was... I need more than 1 or 2 cards of a player. Since I had nothing, I took pictures of them signing for fans.

For the game the good guy won 4-2 in front of 5,802 improving to 9-1-1. Josh Tomlin looked great and ready to be in the starting rotation. Tomlin scattered 3 hits over 4 inning sticking out 5. He finished the 4th strong by striking out the side. Asdrubal Cabrera was 2 for 2 with 1 run and Justin Sellers was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.

Game 11
Indians vs Angels
A perfect day for baseball in Arizona

No big name Angels made the trip to Goodyear, so I worked on Indians autographs. I wanted to challenge myself today by getting autographs of Indians who played in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) this past winter that I took picture of during the season. I arrived at Indians practice and there was a lot of people... you can tell spring break has started. After the pitchers workout some of them came to the fence to sign Zach McAllister 2013 Topps, (2) Josh Tomlin 2010 Bowman Draft, and 2010 Topps Udpated and (2) Justin Masterson 2010 Topps and 2011 Topps. I counted and stopped at 70 people (but there was more) and Justin Masterson stayed and sign for everyone and when he was finished he even stayed, talked and took pictures with the fans. When he arrived at the game, he did the same thing. I have to say by far he is the nicest all a round guy I have meet this spring.

At the game, the first person I saw was Katie Witham (STO broadcaster) and she signed a 5x7 photo for me and inscribed it "To: Russ My favorite Tribe fan OXOX". I told her I follower her on twitter and she told me all the trouble she had getting into Arizona yesterday. Her flight delayed, rent-a-car issues and her hotel room was taken. Despite all that she was on the field doing her job the next day.

I got another STO broadcaster Rick Manning 1985 Topps. Mike Hargrove was in uniform and in the dugout, but he did not sign before or after the game. Then, the players came onto the field, this is when I worked on my personal challenge. Tyler Naquin and Joey Wendle came over after dropping their bag off in the dugout and signed their AFL 5x7 photo, after the game Tony Wolters would also come over and sign his AFL 5x7 photo ... Challenge completed! The Tribe's first baseman Nick Swisher stopped by for a few fans before stretching and I was in the right place today, I got him on a 2013 Topps.  A note to all autograph collector looking to get Nick Swisher on a baseball on the Sweetspot or below logos, he don't. One guy asked Nick to sign on the sweetspot and Nick replayed, "I haven't done that for years". One of the few pitchers I have not gotten yet came down the line at the same time Swisher was going up and I thought I might miss him, but Carlos Carrasco walked around Swisher and came back to sign his 2006 Bowman Futures Game card. When Carlos was done signing for everyone, he sat on the fence and was talking to kids. Before going in the dugout he gave all the kids a high-five. Another class act player.

Nick Swisher
 Carlos Carrasco

During the game I saw someone two rows down in front of me and I knew I seen this guy before. As the game went on, I remember I saw him this morning at the Indians minor league practice. He was Alex Lavisky (catcher in the Indians system and an OHIO boy) sitting with friends taking in the Tribe game like the rest of us. I don't like asking for players autographs when they are not "on the job". I waited until after the game when he stood up to leave and I asked him nicely if he could sign a card for me, and he did on a 2011 Topps Pro Debut. I thanked him for his time and one of the friends he was with did not know he had a baseball card. She asked me if she could take a picture of it with her cellphone. I thought it was funny and let her take the picture. Some fans saw me get his autograph and ask who was that, they had no idea who he was.

Alex Lavisky

For the game the Tribe lost 8-3 in front of 4,263 stopping a 9 game winning streak (plus one tie) dropping their spring record to 9-2-1. Danny Salazar must have been on a pitch count as he was taken out after 1.2 inning with the base loaded. It would have been nice to see if he could have worked himself out of trouble, but save the arm for the long season. Trevor Bauer did not look good at all, he went 2 inning with 7 hits, 7 Runs (6 earned) and 1 strikeout while his ERA ballooned to 10.29 for the spring. The good news is the bullpen came in and put up zeros the rest of the game while Jason Kipnis went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI.

Another double digit autograph day 13 total, 9 cards and 4 photos.

Game 12
Reds vs Giants

Today, I put up a big fat goose egg for autographs. Days like this bring me down and let me know I'm no where near as prepared as I thought I was. It's my first full spring and I will take it as a lesson learned for next year.

For the game the Giants won 8-5 in front of 5,736 fans. Billy Hamilton looks to be a good replacement in center filed for Choo who left via free agent. Hamilton was 1-3 with a walk, double, run, RBI and had a bang-bang play at first on a bent attempt were he was called out. Today's game was also the first time I have seen the pitchers swing the bat. Reds pitchers looked, how can I say... pitchers. They were a combined 0-2. The Giant pitchers looked good, Tim Hudson was 2-2 with 2 run, double and picked up the win. The Giants hero of the game was no other than the 2012 NL MVP Buster Posey. He went 3-3 with run, double, home run, 3 RBI's and threw out a base stealer.

Game 13
Indians vs Padres

Woke up to read the Indians starting line up and today was the first cuts to shrinking the roster to 52 it was a sad day for a lot of the invitees. Today the Indians sent 12 player to minor league camp. I and maybe even most of the players knew they were not going to make it to the bigs this year. Minor league games start this Friday and I'm sure these players will be needed.

With the zero autograph yesterday, I wanted to redeem myself, so I went to the Indians practice. It was a low day, but better than zero. I got a total of 5 cards and 1 ball. The 5 cards are Rick Manning 1988 Fleer, Lonnie Chisenhall 2013 Topps, Mike Aviles 2008 Topps (RC), Jason Kipnis 2013 Bowman and Nick Swisher 2014 Topps.

The Padres visit Goodyear only once this year and they had no star players making the trip, so I stopped by the minor league practice before heading to the game. As I arrived, a foul ball landed right in front of me. Michael Brantley was there is see his cousin Justin Brantley throw live pitching. As Micheal was walking back to the complex I asked for his autograph, but he said "I have to get to work". He just finished batting practice and I over heard him say he was not playing today and had the rest of the day off. Then, 2 seconds later I saw him signing for other people. I like Micheal as a player and what he dose on the field, but off the field is a different story. I have been asking for his autograph almost everyday for the last 5 weeks and his is the only regular position starter who has not signed for me. The minor league practice was not a total loss, I was able to get Clint Frazier on a ROMLB.

For the game-
Indians catchers duo of Santana and Gomes lead the way with Santana 2 run home run in the first and Gomes bases loaded walk in the 3rd. Santana also had some tough plays at third base look easy. If he keeps that up, he will be the starting third baseman.Corey Kluber came apart in the fourth allowing the Padres to tie the game at 3-3. Nyjer Morgan speed lead to another run in the Indians fourth when he beat out a bunt and the third basemen threw the ball into the stands, moving Morgan to second. The pitcher threw the ball in the dirt and Morgan took off for third when the catcher threw the ball to third in landed in left field allowing Morgan to score. In the outfield, he also ran a down  few balls that was heading to the gap to keep the game close. Keep that up and he will find himself on the roster. The young guys are fun to watch and today they did not disappoint. As a group they lead the comeback by putting up 7 runs in the 8th and closed out the 12-7 win in front of 3,265 fan. The future for the Tribe looks good.

Game 14
Indians vs Royals

I saw that the Royals was starting Norichika Aoki and I wanted his autograph since 2005. When he played for Yakult Swallows in Japan he was a superstar and I could not get anywhere near him without a crowd of fans and security close by. Now that he is in America it is nowhere near as bad and he came over and sign on a Shikishi (rice paper laminated to a hardboard backing). I then made my way to the Indians side of the read to sit down and take in the game. Then, players just started coming to fans. I had to jump out of my seat and open my bag to get my cards and pictures. First was Justin Sellers, he had a black sharpie from the last person he signed and signed my 5x7 photo of him in a Dodgers uniform. It did not turn out that good, so I might reprint it and try again, but it still an autograph. Next was 3 players just walking down signing Mike Hargrove 1985 Topps, Trevor Bauer 2013 Bowman and (2) Josh Tomlin 2010 Bowman Draft and 2010 Topps Updated. Justin Masterson was signing again today, but I have already got everything I have of him signed already this spring. After the game started I saw George Brett in the Royals dugout. I don't know if he signed before the game or not. I thought he gave up his job as the hitting coach. He might have been a guest coach like Mike Hargrove was for the Tribe.

For the game-
Again, the young guys lead the comeback the same way they have all spring. In the 7th trailing 5-3 they put up 4 run and in the 8th added 5 more to win the game 12-6 in front of 4,051 and improving the Tribes record to 12-2-1.

14 Mar

Today is a day full of minor league baseball. The Indians and Reds minor league teams played each other. The AAA and AA teams played at the Indians complex while the A and low A played at the Reds complex. I started at the Reds and saw 4 inning of the two games where Clint Frazier was 2-2 with a run before I left to go to the Indians complex. I saw the last 4 inning of the AAA and AA games. During the game I got a foul ball "Official Ball Arizona League" with the MiLB logo. After the game I got 4 autographs, one of Anthony Gallas on a custom Kent State alumni 5x7 photo. I told Anthony that I was working on all Kent State player custom alumni photos and he wanted to see them, but I told him I don't carry them with me. He was cool to add his college uniform number vice his current jersey number which was a plus. Next I got (2) Chun-Hsiu Chen 2011 Bowman Prospect. It was the first time he sign in English for me, the other times was Chinese. Lastly, not sure if it was because he was sent to the minors or if it was because only two people asking for his autograph, but Francisco Lindor finally stopped to sign for fans instead of walking past fans. I got him on a  2013 Topps Pro Debut. The only Indian's player that I have asked for an autograph and still have not gotten at least one this spring is no other than Micheal Brantley.

Today's Autographs

Tonight was a Reds night game, but the RV park is having it's last dance of the season with a lot of the people leaving next week. I did not go to the game and instead said our goodbye until the next time we meet.

15 Mar
Game 15
Indians vs D-Backs

With the visiting team the REAL home in Arizona the fans came in bulk with 8,808 fans in totals to see their D-Backs beat my Indians 4-2. I saw Paul Goldschmidt for the first time live and he is a beast. The D-Backs have a solid foundation at first base for years to come. With the crowd so large and kid everywhere I had no chance of getting any of the D-Backs autographs I was looking for. I have decided that today was my last day of full out chasing autographs. There is two weeks left in spring training and I will still go to the games, but no longer chase autographs.

In my first full Spring Training I think I did a good job of 139 total autographs and 12 game/practice baseballs. look below to see the breakdown of all the autographs I got this spring.

Next post ... back to live-in-RV where the road will lead us to new adventures.

2014 MLB SPRING TRAINING WEEK 4

2014 MLB SPRING TRAINING WEEK 4

2 Mar
Game 5
Indians vs Mariners

I got no autographs today. I was on the Mariners side of the field and Robinson Cano came right in front of me, but the first pen he used was a black sharpie and he used it on everything until he was done. I pulled by ball away as black sharpie will run or bleed into the leather ball later down the road. All the other players was farther down the line closer to the dugout and did not come down my way. Most of all the big name players made the trip today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed some make the trip tomorrow too. When I got to my seat on the Indians side of the field people was saying that Swisher, Santana and Cabrera was signing. I know getting autographs is a game of hit and miss and I missed badly today. After the game, it was kids run the bases and player had to leave the field before it could start so no players stopped to sign. Better luck tomorrow on the autographs of Mariners players.

For the game, the good guys won again 6-3 in front of 4,199 the biggest crowd so far this spring. Today was also the Indians give-a-way game of a fleece blanket. Carlos Santana started at third base and his first play of the spring at the hot corner was a throwing error. It looked as Nick Swisher made the tag when he came down, but the ump called the runner safe and charged Santana with an error. Francisco Lindor hit a 3 run homer to break the 3-3 tie in the 7th inning. Indians are now 3-1 this spring, and every win they had at least one home run. Their only lost they did not have a home run. Hit a home run win the game... lets see if that trend keeps true.

Game 6
Reds vs Mariners

The rain and clouds have passed with only sun and 80's the rest of the week, perfect weather for baseball. Mariners had a split squid game today, and most of the big name players stayed home to play while the scrubs made the trip to Goodyear Ball Park. I made up yesterdays zero autograph with 8 autographs today.

I started the day of early by going to Reds batting practice. There was over 50 people trying to get autographs in the small area. I did not think of taking picture, but if I go again I'll show you how small the area is for fan to get autographs. Instead, I went to shag balls from batting practice. I was able to get one ball. When the third group came to batting practice I left to go to the Indians minor practice fields. A group of players was still at batting practice as these players played yesterday and today was their off day. When I arrived, it was the last group batting of the day. In that group was Yan Gomes. I was able to chase down one ball from the Indians practice. After practice Yan Gomes came over and signed for all 5 fans who where there watching batting practice. He signed a ROMLB for me. When the major leaguers where done I walked to see what minor leaguers was still around. To my surprise there was two Kent State alumni Nick Hamilton and Anthony Galles. Anthony came to me and just started talking like we were friends. We talked about Kent State and some of it alumni who are playing ball and who we think will make it to the show. We both think Travis Shaw of the Red Sox will one day be in the show. Nick also came over and signed some photos I had of him. One photo was of him with David Lyon (Rangers MiLB catcher). I have to make it the Rangers minor league camp to finish this photo. Indians minor league camp starts on 10 Mar. I told them I would be back to see them again this spring and will bring more photos of them to sign. Anthony had to leave, but I hope to get both of them together one day to get a picture of them in their Indians uniforms. That would be a nice addition to my Kent State collection.

It was around noon when I left the field to make my way to Goodyear Ballpark. Today was Reds autograph day and the day I had yesterday I will take a sure autograph over a 50/50 chance. Today's signers where infielder Kristopher Negron and catcher Tucker Barnhart. Kristopher is an Invitee who is at AAA and had a cup of coffee in 2012 with the Reds. Tucker is on the 40-man roster, but only at AA. I had nothing for them to sign, but at the table they had team index cards with Reds and Goodyear Ball Park logo. I then made my way to the Mariners side of the field where I was lucky enough to get Jesus Montero on a ROMLB. With no one left I wanted to get autographs from, I went to the Reds side of the field. I was able to get Chris Heisey on a 2014 Topps and Billy Hamilton on a ROMLB. It was not on the sweet spot, but at least I get his autograph on a ball now.

For the game the Mariners won 6-5 in front of 2,252 fans. Mariners had 5 errors and giving up 3 unearned runs. If not for Chris Tyler grand slam in the 7th the Mariners would have lost this game.

Game 7
Indians vs White Sox

Big day, all the Indians normal starters are slated to start. I went to Indians batting practice hoping to get some autographs before the game. When I arrived there was a B-team game between the Indians and Angles. Most the the Indians players were invitees, AAA and AA players. I was surprised to see that since minor league report day in not until 8 Mar. However, I did make out pretty good in getting 6 autographs, they are Arron Harang 2009 Topps, Zach McAllister 2013 Topps, Trevor Bauer 2013 Bowman, (2) Frank Herrmann 2010 Topps Updated and "The Golden Goose" Manager Terry Francona 1989 Topps when he player for the Indians. The stories are true, Terry Francona is hard to get autographs from. But, there was someone he knew and I was standing close to them and jumped in. He did not stay long only about 10 autographs and then he ran inside the complex. I wanted to get over to the minor league fields, but when I got there they were done. I did however see Nick Hamilton leaving the field and he signed my custom Kent State Alumni 5x7 photo.
Trevor Bauer signing for fans
Terry Francona watching the B-Team game behind home plate

A side note about pitchers, I think they are a different breed when it comes to autographs. Harang, McAllister, Hermann and even Bauer signed everything for everyone today. Very few position players sign for every fan. The only exception I have seen this spring form big name players are Kipnis and Gomes. The young guys like Naquin, Walters and Wendle are a sure (99%) sign.

I made my way to Goodyear Ballpark to see the game. There was a large group of people standing by the Indians dugout, so I went to the White Sox where there was almost no one. I was able to get 3 White Sox autographs of Robin Venture on a 8x10 photo, Harold Baines on a ROMLB and Gordon Beckham on a ROMLB. I ran into a autograph blogger I follow MC's Autograph Signings. Check out his link in my "Blogs I Follow". It was a quick hello and he went back to the White Sox as I made my way to the Indians. I must have had luck on my side today as I was able to add 4 more autographs to my daily total. They were Charles Nagy 1993 Topps, (2) Justin Masterson 2012 Topps that he inscribed John 16:33 on both cards. The last is a 8x10 photo of Santana, Brantley, Cabrera, Kipnis and Aviles after the 2013 AL Wild Card lose. I was able to get Kipnis to sign it, now I just have to work on the others the rest of the spring. Today's Autograph total was 14, 9 cards, 3 photos and 2 ball.

For the game, the good guys won 5-4 in front of 2,121 fans. Josh Tomlin pitched 3 inning (3rd-5th) with a small hiccup in this second inning of work, but he fought back and only gave up 2 run. When he left the game he was in line for the win, until the 7th and 8th where the bullpen gave up solo shoots to the first batter in each inning. It was the Carolina Mudcats connection in the bottom of the ninth to score the winning run with two outs. Tyler Naquin was on second and Joe Wendle drove him in with a line drive to center to improve the Tribe to 5-1 this spring.

Game 8
Reds vs Dodgers

The game today is a night game with a 7:05 start time. I wanted to complete the duel Hamilton/ Lyon photo and my Kent State Alumni photos, so I made my way to Surprise at Ranger minor league practice. The two players on my list are David Lyons (catcher) and Ryan Boares (pitcher). With pitchers and catchers in camp all I have to do was find out where the bullpen practice was located and look for them. When I arrive there was major league batting practice and there was a lot people. I walked in the back to see the minor leaguers and for some odd reason I was not thinking and did not bring a ROMLB for Ryan Rua who put up some big power numbers last year, and to top it off he is a local boy form O-H-I-O. There was no one around and all minor leaguers was signing for anyone who asked them. Ryan Boares was on a no pitch day so I could not find him, but I did get David Lyon who was catching live pitching. I called him over, we talked a little about Kent and he signed (2) 5x7 photos for me. One was the double with Nick Hamilton (Completed) and the other was my custom Kent State Alumni. When I go back to get Boares autograph I will take a ROMLB ball for Rua also.

Around noon I headed back to the RV Resort to take a break and play some water volleyball before heading to the night game.

I did not have to do much research of players baseball cards for the Dodgers as the players I want will be on ROMLB. When I arrived at the ballpark it was a circus. The Dodgers foul line had a line of at least 3-5 deep  trying to get autographs.

I made my way to the right field where the team enters the the field. Adrian Gonzalez and Yasiel Puig sprinted to the dugout passing by everyone with a mix of cheers and boo's. However, two coaches I grew up watching as a kid Yankees legend Don Mattingly and my favorite player growing up Mark McGwire stopped by me as I got both to sign a ROMLB on the sweet spot. I tried to get McGwire's autograph at the Dodgers complex for three days and tonight I was the third person he signed for.

First night game of the year at Goodyear and after the first inning there was still a line at the ticket booth for fan trying to get into the game. Reds lost 10-3 in front of 5,013 fans, new high at Goodyear this spring.
Speed kills as Reds Billy Hamilton beat out a bunt and later scored. In the 2nd inning he had a RBI single to right field. Power is the equalizer, when Dodger rookie Alex Guerrero hit a grand slam to left. In the 5th Adrian Gonzalez had a solo shoot. I was walking around the ball park and almost got the ball (Long black sleeve shirt in khaki shorts and long hair. When the ball hit the wall I'm just above that [time :10]). Checkout the the video link below.

http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/26668074/v31447907/ladcin-adrian-drills-a-solo-homer-to-rightcenter

By the end of the game, the Dodgers had mostly players with no names on the back of their jersey on the field. I think they were AAA just in case (JIC) players since the Dodgers have a day game tomorrow.

Game 9
Indians vs Cubs

A few days ago I asked Anthony Gallas and Nick Hamilton (Kent State Alumni) if I could get a picture with them together, today was the day I got them together. Here they are at BP.

I wanted to focus on quality over quantity autographs today. I went into today thinking 1st round picks only. I started the day off going to the Indians minor league practice. The pitchers was holding live pitching. I stuck around until practice was over and got Indians 2013 1st round #5 overall Clint Frazier on a ROMLB. I was the only one there, besides the 3 security guards. Now I just need to get more Indians minor league players cards (something I have to work on for next year).

As I entered the stadium I made my way to the Cubs foul line and waited for the Cubs 2013 1st  round #2 overall Kris Bryant on a ROMLB.  Just think about it, 8 months ago he was drafted and today he is in big league camp.

Last one of the day was 2011 1st round #3 overall (D-Backs) Trevor Bauer 2011 Playoff Contenders Prospect. He pitched today, but stayed until the game was over and I got him as he was heading off the field.

I know there are a few more 1st rounders like Lonnie Chisenhall (2008), Francisco Lindor (2011) and Tyler Naquin (2012), but I got Chisenhall earlier this spring; Lindor is hard (I only got one autograph in the last 4 years); Naquin (one of the good guys) has signed every time I have asked.

For the game, the good guys won 1-0 in front of 3,303 fans on an Asdrubal Cabrera bases loaded walk improving the Tribe record to 7-1.

 Today's Autographs

I am taking the next two days off, as the Reds host the White Sox  and Cubs. Most defiantly, I will be back in full swing starting Sunday as the Indians will host 5 home games next week.

2014 MLB SPRING TRAINING WEEK 3

2014 MLB SPRING TRAINING WEEK 3

26 FEB
Game 1
Indians vs Reds

First game of the season with 3,267 fans in the stadium and the good guys lost 8-3. There was a couple from the RV park who came with us and in the 4 inning the stadium work came to her ans asked if she wanted to play a game. If any team hit a home run she has to wave the Oakley flag and she would get a $50 coupon at the Oakley store. In the 7th inning Reds Chris Heisey hit a home run and she won the gift card. It was the only time that someone hit a home run off of an Indians pitcher and I clapped.

We were sitting in the Reds section and before the game I got a few autographs. (2) Joey Votto the wife got one a ROMLB and I  got the other on a 2009 Topps Red Turkey insert, Jay Bruce 2009 Topps (RC), Mat Latos 2013 Bowman and newly acquired pitcher from the D-Backs David Holmberg 2014 Topps (RC).

Tomorrow, I will attend Indians batting practice and check to see if minor league camp has started yet. I'm looking to get Indians 2013 #1 draft pick Clint Frazier autograph some time this spring.

Today's Autographs

27 FEB
Game 2
Indians vs Reds

I went to Indians batting practice, I got 6 autographs and one batting practice ball. Here are my autographs, one of the broadcaster for STO (Sports Time Ohio) and former Indians outfielder Rick Manning 1982 Fleer, Jason Giambi 2005 Topps, Michael Bourn 2007 Bowman (RC), Dave Murphy 2014 Topps, Arron Harang 2009 Topps and Carlos Santana 2010 Topps Update. My luck continued at the game with total of 3, (2) Josh Tomlin 2010 Bowman Draft Pick and 2010 Topps Updated and Joe Wendle 2013 Topps Heritage Minor.

After getting the autographs at batting practice, I went to the minor league field. There was only a handful on players taking batting practice. So, by the looks of things Indians minor league camp has not started yet. However, from the twitter account of former Kent State players, some are already in camp. Maybe, by next week minor league camps will be in full swing. I then, walked to Goodyear Ball Park to see the game.

The good guys won 12-3 in front of 2,493. Big surprise that Jesus Aguilar played all 9 inning at first base, that makes two day in row Nick Swisher has not played. If Nick doesn't play tomorrow, something might be wrong. Indians had 3 home runs today Elliot Johnson 2 run homer, Tyler Naquin 2 run homer, and the big one on the day went to Jack Lowery with a grand slam.

At tomorrows game I will try and work on the Reds Billy Hamilton and Brandon Phillips.

Game 3
Indians vs Reds

Before today's game, there was a big celebration with the Mayor and parachute team landing in the stadium. They even announced the player as they ran to the foul lines before the game, so that took away from the players signing time. I did however get 3 Reds autograph before everything started. Bad news still no Brandon Phillips, good news I now have a Billy Hamilton. The 3 autographs are Billy Hamilton 2014 Topps, Brayan Pena 2014 Topps and Mat Latos 2012 Topps.

For the game, the good guys won again 4-0 in front of 3,066 fans. Zach McAllister and Josh Tomlin both pitcher 2 inning and both looked pretty good. Nyjer Morgan had a highlight diving catch in center and Ryan Raburn had a 2 run homer. While there was no sign of Nick Swisher for a third game in a row. Jesus Aguilar did get some more innings and at bats, but still looking for his first hit this spring.

The team shops is selling game used base pads from opening day for $250.00 each.  They are also selling game used balls, bats, jersey and locker name plates. This is what the bases look like.

Tomorrow's game is Reds vs Rockies, I will try and get some Rockies autographs.

Game 4
Reds vs Rookies

All last night and most of the morning it rained and rained hard. It was the first rain storm in the last 70 some days. I thought the game might be postponed, but Goodyear Ball Park twitter account, "game is on as scheduled'. When I arrived I was one of the 1,500 fans to receive a Reds Fleece Blanket. The sky was cloudy and over cast, but the game was on. Before the game I got 4 autographs 1 card and 3 5x7 photo. Nolan Arenado 2014 Topps, manager Walt Weiss and 2 young catchers Matt McBride and Tom Murphy. For the game, Reds won 3-2 in front of  3,012 fans.

As soon as I got home, it started to rain again. I hope it passes before tomorrow game when Mariners visit the Indians.
